Milieu
Installation
The pop-up restaurant series "Chef's Day Off" revolves around bringing fine dining-quality food together with a relaxed atmosphere, making it accessible to people who are not typically intrigued by fine dining. For this commission by "SUPPA CLUB", we aimed to create a new symbol representing these values, which lead to a deliberate dissociation from traditional fine dining conventions. Accordingly, we decided to deconstruct the ultimate mark of quality, the Michelin plaque, and shift the focus from rigid evaluation to communal togetherness, emphasizing the milieu. In contrast to the original, the object possesses the ability to be displayed temporarily, within a setting independent of its location. The plaque was handcrafted, deliberately emphasizing the handmade character to set itself apart from the visual perfectionism typically sought in fine dining. Together with Josephine Conen.
